Founder & President
Mary Kogut Lowell has practiced law in a variety of settings, including large, medium, and small law firms; in-house at a major airline; with the Florida Department of Children & Families, where she served as Managing Attorney for Florida's Ninth Judicial Circuit; and at a domestic violence center, where she served as the Director of Justice Programs. She is thrilled to work with team members Mary H. Equels, attorney at law, and Mary Sue Schmaltz, business and economic writer/consultant, who both share her passion for legal and business writing.

Mary Kogut Lowell, Esq.
Founder & President
Mary Kogut Lowell is Founder & President of Mary Kogut Lowell, P.A. She earned her Bachelor of Arts with distinction and her Master of Arts degrees at the University of Michigan, majoring in Romance Languages and Literatures, followed by her Juris Doctor from the Wayne State University School of Law and Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Florida.
Ms. Kogut Lowell is a professor in addition to her legal work, teaching graduate courses in Professional Writing at the University of Florida College of Business, and Domestic Violence Law at the Florida A&M University College of Law.
Mary H. Equels, Esq.
Attorney Mary H. Equels is of counsel to the firm. Ms. Equels holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Florida College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, with a Juris Doctor from the Florida State University College of Law. While in law school, Ms. Equels was elected Executive Editor of the Journal of Transnational Law & Policy, recognized with an award for Distinguished Pro Bono Service, and named to the Dean's List. She clerked for the Honorable Marc L. Lubet in the Ninth Circuit Court before entering private practice. Ms. Equels is a licensed attorney in the State of Florida and in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Mary Sue Schmaltz
Business and Economic Writer/Consultant
Mary Sue Schmaltz earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish at Western Michigan University. She holds a Master’s degree in International Policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, with post-graduate certificates in International Finance and Global Investments. Ms. Schmaltz worked in several New York-based financial institutions in the area of global institutional investments and participated in community development and capital markets projects in Russia during the initial years of its economic transition. She writes articles about socially and environmentally responsible business and economic models.
